Welcome to the Faculty of Social Sciences Students Association Uniport Chapter

It is with great pleasure that I welcome both new and returning students to the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Port Harcourt, and to what promises to be an exciting and fulfilling new academic session (this session) and beyond. The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the oldest faculties in the University of Port Harcourt, having been established in 1976 as the Faculty of Social Sciences. Since then, the Faculty has remained vibrant in terms of academic activities and profile. We pride ourselves in being the foremost Faculty of Social Sciences in Nigeria.
The Faculty comprises Four highly-rated Departments, namely: Economics, Geography and Environmental Management, Political Science and Sociology. We are also proud to say that all our programmes are accredited by the National Universities Commission.
The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the largest Faculties in the University, in terms of students population, with over 4,000 students made up to undergraduate, and post-graduate students. The Faculty is blessed with a culturally diverse student population, with students from virtually all the students of the federation.
